Joe is responsible for driving the Digital strategy of thanet council and leading the council into the modern ways of working. As part of the digital transformation team he oversees the Corporate Website, Intranet, Google Workspace continued improvement programme, Corporate System administration, Corporate GIS Mapping, Local Land and Property Gazetteer, Cloud and Data development, corporate reporting, app and script development, Cloud Telephony and Single sign on platform OKTA.
He joined in May 2018 to lead the digital transformation in Thanet from his previous role as Technical architect supporting Thanet, Dover and Canterbury council ICT shared service. Since joining working as a team with everyone in the council being on board we have moved over 65% of their systems to cloud SaaS services. Migrated to Google Workspace (Gsuite) and set this as default for all internal communications and collaborations. Replaced 97% of their Windows user devices for Chromebooks. Increased security and simplified sign process to application by moving to OKTA SSO as our default platform. Migrated to RingCentral for our telephony from legacy telephone systems. Enabling the workforce to go through 100% office based to 100% home based during pandemic and now enabling flexible working where 90% of staff will be working in a hybrid way instead of permanently being office based.
Previously Joe had set the technical vision from inside the shared ICT service as the technical architect with over 14 years experience in the ICT field with the main roles being network and security engineer and then continuing to become the sole technical architect for 3 councils.
