With over 30 years IT leadership experience, Jos has held a variety of CIO roles and non-executive director positions. He is a recognised independent digital analyst and researcher. He chairs the Open University School of Computing Industrial Board and is a non-Exec for the Department of International Trade on the Risk and Audit Committee covering cyber, digital and information risks.
For over a decade Jos was CIO and latterly CDO for Hampshire County Council and is past president of the British Computer Society and also of the Society of IT Management (Socitm). His experience includes large-scale mergers, national and international IT programmes and the start-up and subsequent sale of a tech business. He has previously been listed as the ‘most influential and innovative CIO’ in the UK.
Now operating as an independent consultant, Jos provides expert advice to public and private sectors on digital and IT strategies. In the past two years this has included a range of cyber assignments and research projects for national and local government in Europe and the UK. In 2018 he led discussions on two consultations with public sector leaders for MHCLG at Windsor Castle.
